Fried Karela or Pavakka Ulathiyathu Recipe
Ingredients :
Bitter gourd 225gm
Green chillies 10gm
Coconut(fresh) 55gm
Salt to taste
Coconut oil 15ml
Method :
Wash and dry gourd. Slit and remove seeds and pulp.
Cut into fine slices or roundels.
Slit green chillies.
Cut coconut into 0.75cm pieces.
Cook together gourd, green chillies and coconut with salt and just enough water to cook gourd dry.
Cook over gentle heat till gourd is done and water evaporated.
Heat oil in a fry pan. Add cooked gourd and fry till gourd is fairly crisp.
