Fried Karela or Pavakka Ulathiyathu Recipe

 Fried Karela or Pavakka Ulathiyathu


Ingredients :
  • Bitter gourd  225gm
  • Green chillies  10gm
  • Coconut(fresh)  55gm
  • Salt   to taste
  • Coconut oil  15ml
Method :
  • Wash and dry gourd. Slit and remove seeds and pulp.
  • Cut into fine slices or roundels.
  • Slit green chillies.
  • Cut coconut into 0.75cm pieces.
  • Cook together gourd, green chillies and coconut with salt and just enough water to cook gourd dry.
  • Cook over gentle heat till gourd is done and water evaporated.
  • Heat oil in a fry pan. Add cooked gourd and fry till gourd is fairly crisp.
